Late Night Practice
Hello fellow bloggers, I had intended to update you last night after I got done practicing but as you can see that did not happen. I didn't get done practicing until pretty late last night and when I came back I laid down on my bed for a minute and apparently I fell asleep before getting the chance to post an update. So I am updating you this morning. My practice last night went well. I had a lot of fun practicing with Shaun. We went into the recital hall in Sursa for our practice. It stated out like our usual practice, just practicing scales, and the simple little exercises I have been working on. Then we decided to have some fun and mess around a little bit, Shaun uncovered the Steinway piano that is usually reserved for performances (whether we were aloud to do this or not I am not completely sure) and we just messed around making up different stuff together playing back and forth with each on our pianos. We ended up "practicing" for over 3 hours and didn't get done until after 11 P.M when we left because they close the building at 11. We had a really fun time though.

I've Come To A Realization.....
I have come to the realization that as much as I had wanted to learn to play the Kiss song "Beth" I am most likely not going to be able to achieve this goal during my 30 day challenge. It is much more complicated than I had originally thought and requires a skill level which I have not yet achieved. Even though I would have loved to have been able to play this by the end of this week I am okay with the fact that I will not be able to. I am just simply thrilled with the fact that I have had any success with this endeavor. I am happy with what I have accomplished thus far.

Practicing by Myself
Tonight I ended up going and just practicing by myself. Shaun and I were supposed to go and practice together but he had something come up and was not able to join me. This was okay though because it gave me some time that I could go and just practice by myself without having anyone watching over my shoulder. I didn't feel the pressure of having to impress anyone or worry about getting everything perfect, it was just me, myself and I which was kinda nice.
I Put The PRO in Procrastinate!
Its no secret to many of you who know me well that I tend to have a bad habit of putting things off lol. Well this appears to be no exception. To those of you who look for my new posts I'm sorry I haven't posted for awhile. This doesn't mean that I haven't been practicing though. I have continued to practice my songs that I am learning. I have also been trying to learn a few scales. My hand placement still needs some work but it is getting better. I am going to go practice later on this evening and will probably have another update later on tonight. I have had a lot going on with all of my classes and it has been difficult to keep my blog up to date. But I am going to try and post everyday at least once or twice a day from now until Friday when my project is finished.

Amazing Weather!
While I absolutely love the weather we are currently experiencing, it it making it extremely difficult to motivate myself to stay cooped up in a small room in Sursa in order to practice. I wish there was an outdoor piano that I could practice on. Wait, on second thought no I don't wish that at all I am not nearly good enough to be playing outside in front of everyone lol. I generally don't enjoy embarrassing myself when I can avoid it. However, I have been managing to at least try and get 30 minutes of practice at every other day. I would really like to practice for a longer amount of time and practice every day but my everyday life seems to prevent that as well as the unbelievably nice weather making me very unmotivated to do anything indoors.

Practice Makes Perfect...Sort Of
I have been continuing to practice Heart and Soul. I am slowly getting better but am still far from being the next Elton John or Stevie Wonder. I am really struggling with my hand/finger placement. It just feels very awkward and uncomfortable. For some reason my thumbs never want anything to do with this process. I am working on this though and it is slowly becoming easier. I suppose the more that I practice the better I will become. At least thats what I've been told. I guess I will find out.
On a side note I promised to tell you a song that I would ideally like to learn to play so I thought of a good one that I would like to play: Beth by Kiss. As some of you may know I am a die hard Kiss fan and that is my main reason behind choosing this song. It is probably the song that would sound best on piano. I am not sure if I will be able to play this because I showed it to Shaun and he tried to play it and had a little bit of trouble. We will find out late though.

My First Song
Yesterday Shaun taught me my first song. I can now play Heart and Soul. I am continuing to practice this song because I have not yet mastered the tempo and time. I can play the song but I am still quite slow because I have to stop and think about where the notes and keys are at. This is a fairly simple song to play which makes it an excellent first song for me to begin my learning experience with. It only contains five notes A,C,E,F,G. This are the main notes to any song on the piano though. Shaun said that if I can master these notes then I can probably play 90% of songs on the piano. I also learned the order of the keys on the keyboard. This was surprisingly more simple than I had expected it to be since they just repeat themselves all the way from left to right. I am enjoying my experience so far learning the piano.
